Windows OS, covering:

Windows (Windows 11 / Windows Server 2025)

Windows in TUKE Cloud represents modern and reliable operating systems available to users in the form of virtual machines. Two main lines are available – Windows 11 as a desktop operating system designed for everyday work and development, and Windows Server 2025, which is designed for server tasks, service management, and backend solutions. Both versions operate in a VMware vSphere virtualized environment and are optimized for use in the TUKE Cloud portal.

Windows 11 is a modern desktop operating system designed for users who need a graphical interface, office applications, development tools, software packages, or user-oriented applications. It's suitable for programming education, software testing, work with development tools (Visual Studio, PowerShell, .NET), using analytical tools, Office work, project management, and visual work. Windows 11 provides easy use, high software compatibility, and third-party application support. A Windows 11 VM in TUKE Cloud is ideal for situations where a student or teacher needs a full Windows desktop accessible via RDP from anywhere.

Windows Server 2025 represents the latest generation of Microsoft's server operating system. It's designed for backend tasks, domain service management, web application hosting, databases, internal server services, cloud services, laboratory exercises, and administrator-oriented courses. It includes advanced features such as Active Directory Domain Services, Windows Server Failover Clustering, file services, IIS web server, Hyper-V management tools, security modules, and management capabilities. Windows Server 2025 is suitable for simulating real enterprise scenarios, testing IT infrastructures, teaching network courses, certification preparation, or running server applications and systems.

Windows licensing is fully automated in the TUKE Cloud portal and managed centrally by the university. There's no need to activate, enter keys, or secure your own license – the system assigns it automatically when creating a VM. Users can work immediately without additional steps. However, if a user needs other commercial software (e.g., Microsoft Office, professional applications, specialized tools), they must secure licenses for these applications independently – the Cloud team licenses only the operating system.

Windows VMs in TUKE Cloud are suitable for a wide spectrum of uses: software development, database laboratories, Windows administration teaching, training, server service configuration, internal task operation, application testing, research projects, network and security-focused courses, or creating exercise environments. Windows Server provides a stable environment for services and backend, while Windows 11 provides a comfortable environment for desktop work.
